HtH128 – The Dramaturg Sets Out On A Journey
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Eclair, Lumi and Ablam go on an important date.
Eclair walks down the front steps of the house, carrying a small leather hand-case.
"Seriously, everyone, you didn't need to send us off so early in the morning!" Standing as a crowd at the front door are Piaccta, Hikari, House and Mistrál, who have come out to see their friends off.
Lumi and Ablam are standing by Eclair's side. While Ablam is looking relaxed, albeit slightly impatient, Lumi is asking last-minute favors from the other girls who would be staying behind in the house,
(A pause, a feeling of remembering something important)
"Oh... yes! And please help water the roses, not more than once a day please. They are... delicate."
"Relax, relax," House brags, popping out her upper body from behind Hikari, "The house will be in good hands! We won't accidentally set it on fire!"
The other girls laugh lightly, but this is an actual thing that happened in our house's history!
Still, Eclair can't help but worry.
Lumi, Ablam and herself were going on a trip out together. It would be a short trip, not more than a few days.
This would be the first time in a while that the house would be missing a dramaturg.
Ever since she arrived here at the house, her Predecessor would sometimes go on trips out, but always left the vice-dramaturg in charge.
For now, there was nobody to fill that role. So the duty would have to go to...
"Mistrál," Eclair looks directly at the lab-coated girl with blue hair. "When we are gone, you are the most senior in the house. Remember to do vocal training sessions and..."
"Please be assured, that our home is in the most excellent of hands. Mistrál is here to provide support and guidance, and I am honored " The girl says so with such confidence, it made Eclair raise a small eyebrow! Was it her imagination, or was Mistrál looking especially bright and cheery today? Perhaps it was just a trick of the light, or maybe Mistrál truly had grown since the recent events. It seemed strange as well...
... since when does the girl wake up so early in the mornings?
That is when the dramaturg feels fast tapping on her shoulder.
"Hey! Don't overthink it! We're not going forever, it's just a short trip on the outside!" Ablam is already getting impatient with her dramaturg's dawdling, crossing her arms and tapping her foot. "Want me to carry that for you?"
Ablam points to the hand-case held close by Eclair.
The dramaturg shakes her head rapidly, hugging the case a little closer to her.
Inside the case is something special; it is the play script that Eclair wrote not too long ago. [HtH108]
It had laid buried in the dramaturg's desk cupboard, subject of many, many revisions.
Now, two desires have come together in the same place.
It was finally time to let it be seen by eyes outside the house.
That was the reason for this trip out in the first place.
That little script carried the hopes of outside Oxygen for the house...
"And because we are going on a date to this place that Lumi really wants to visit."
"D-don't say it like that! It's just been really stressful lately, I thought a change of air would be nice!"
When Ablam says the 'd-word', a collective sigh and curious looks come over the other girls; hopeful ones, hidden ones, smiling ones, perhaps tinged with 'maybe we deserve our own dates too'.
"N-not to worry, everyone!" Eclair goes swirly-eyed behind her glasses, the blush on her face getting redder with every word, "Everyone will get a turn!"
Perhaps that was not the right choice of words, since it caused a small commotion, Piaccta tilting her head with a confused look amongst the uproar.
For some reason, Piaccta feels her cheeks flushing slightly.
"A turn? But Piaccta can visit her hometown at any time?"
"Ah, Eclair's twist of words is quite unique. Each trip out is a new step, a new experience---"
"--- Now don't you start too, Hikari!" Ablam grabs Eclair's hand in her own blush-faced huff, "Come on, Eclair, Lumi! The train won't wait for us all morning!" Half a step behind, Lumi bows to the the rest of her genmates lightly, then chases off after the other two.
They walked...
... across the stone bridge,
occasionally waving back,
past the trees that surround the park forest,
past the Bitsborough cobble path,
until finally,
they were completely out of sight.
The remaining girls stay at the front door with bated breath.
"Mistrál believes they are finally gone." Our local tinkerer scans the distance, one hand covering the top of her eyes.
Hikari maintains her upright pose, though the close-eyed smile on her face is starting to seep through!
(big smiles) "Does this mean that the fun can begin?"
"Hmm hmm...! Well,"
House angles her body back to face the other girls, an eyebrow slightly raised behind her glasses.
"What happens at Home..."
House reaches into the side of her clothes...
...
She rummages around somewhere that absolutely shouldn't contain pockets.
...
And somehow...!
... produces four pairs of cool dark shades appear between her fingers!
(she quickly passes them out amongst her accomplices)
"... stays at home...!"
Incredulously, as the other girls put on their cool shades,
House puts on the sunglasses,
right on top of her own glasses!
YEEEEAAAHHH!!!!!
