HtH88 – Doors and Windows (i)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Minara opens a door. Someone else opens a window.
The girl stands in front of the dining hall doors, rubbing her knuckles white with her fingers. Behind the closed dining room doors, it feels like the room is overflowing with laughter. She paces in circles before the door in her shiny new knee-high boots, 'Rover' whirling in circles above her.
Bright laughter passes from behind the closed dining room doors, and once again, Minara faces an obstacle that has dogged her entire life.
Except this time, the measured footsteps of her good sister-in-law are not far behind!
"Why stop there, friend Minara?" Mistrál inquires while walking, "You were practically running the entire way here?"
That she was!
When she put on her new boots, her first steps had been cautious, tentative.
Almost like she were afraid to fall down from the added height the high heels gave.
But no such thing happened.
Same as with all her worries in the past,
same with all the doubts, fears, and anxieties that came with facing a closed door.
And so...
... the girl ran.
She broke into steps and ran,
she ran upwards the steps
she ran down the hallway,
ran past the noonday sun peeking in through the laced curtains,
she ran with such speed, nobody else could keep up with her!
And now, panting, hair half-disheveled, and that familiar mad little golden glint back in her eyes,
she points down the hallway, at her good sister-in-law trailing behind!
"I was simply... waiting! Waiting for you to catch up!"
The girl says so with such gusto and confidence, the sides of Mistrál's cheeks hurt, just a little!
Small steps then,
small steady steps in the right direction.
As if to support her good friend, Mistrál puts a hand on her side of the dining room double doors.
Together, the both of them push open the doors to the dining room---
""As always, it is perfectly acceptable to be fashionably late...!""
