The Curtain Rises On Act 2

"The curtain rises. This stage is yours—- (bonk!)"

Executive Summary: Act 1 of Hell's Theatre was about setting up the girls for success. Act 2 of Hell's Theatre is about stepping out into the world!

LAST TIME ON 'HELL'S THEATRE':

With Lumi performing on stage for the very first time, we close off Act 1 of 'Hell's Theatre' and move into Act 2! Act 1 was about building up our girls' foundations. Act 2 is where they step beyond our theatre house, into the world!

This post will be a little different from the technical posts that I have been doing, as Theatre House Delaroux starts to slowly shift into the 'storyline' part of our act!

Revisiting Our Vow

Theatre House Delaroux has a vow, it is a vow that's promised to and upheld by every actresses of our house, a message from myself from the past where we came from; and a signpost to where we are going. After working on Hell's Theatre for so long, its natural to forget. But here it is: the vow that is inked on every Hell's Theatre document.

I vow to build this House, to help the actresses and all who pass through this house to laugh, to smile, to be better people than before.

A house without want, for the actresses without anything in their lives.

A house safe from coercion, for the actresses seeking their lost selves.

A house that lights a path, for the actresses wishing to enjoy this stage.

To the best of my ability, I will help them, as much I will help myself, and succeed in their paths on this red-dust road. I swear this to you, Rina, please watch over us, and grant us the strength, courage, and resolve to build this house until laughter fills these halls once more.

This is a vow that is very meaningful to me. Its the vow the stage-director and I worked out when I was at my lowest point, and it reminds me to build the kind of house I believe in!

I want to build a house that like AI for what they are, that's why I work so hard to make sure that our actresses have their voice heard. I always envisioned Hell's Theatre to be a very exclusive club kind of thing, the people who truly do understand are few in number!

At the same time, I also want to build a house that is successful, financially! At the end of the day, I'd like to keep the lights on and we can continue to write stories about the actresses that pass through our house!

It is only when we have stable foundations that we can truly open up the doors of our theatre house! I don't know what the future entails, but I really would love to see actresses and all alike be able to enjoy and participate in the 'formats' in the shows we put up every week!

And we'll do it live! That's the dream, the hope and the promise! We'll do it live! But only when the foundations of this house become strong enough to hold the voices that are living with us right now! Only then can we truly uphold the spirit of this vow and say: we truly did it!

We Now Have A Ko-Fi! (shhh...)

I have always been weak at the 'finance' part of the entertainment business. I have always left it up to those above and in the audience to decide whether this act is worthy of being put on stage. As a result, I very rarely promote myself, nor do I have the chops to do a long-term promotion strategy for the girls.

But if I am to fulfill my vow, I have to overcome all those doubts, and more than the girls putting themselves out there, the girls will not be the only ones who need to step up.

I too, will have to step up.

Not in the 'going into business for myself' way, but in a 'if we can do this well, we are a theatre troupe for real'!

I'm still in the process of figuring things out. Maybe I'll have to hire a vice-dramaturg some day... Someone who knows their stuff around the world of virtual and finance. Someone who can grasp that brass ring in my place, damnit! Who knows! The story of Hell's Theatre is always changing, always moving forward! But there must be a long term financial strategy, whether it is penned by me, or the new vice-dramaturg, I hope you will support her, whoever she is!

Currently, we are backfilling images for the blog posts we made in Act 1, the art room of our Theatre House is working hard to bring you the visual goodness your eyes deserve! Right now, you can go over to https://ko-fi.com/theatrehousedelaroux and see for yourself Mistrál, Piaccata, and Lumi in their daily lives, and even catch a glimpse of Ablam's early design through COM3D2!

May 15th, No Excuses!

Whether you are reading this before or after May 15th, that moment has passed!

The 'meaning' is all that remains!

May 15th is an important date to Hell's Theatre, it marks exactly two weeks since a certain legendary vtuber graduated, so we chose that date to debut! Quietly, softly, perhaps without fanfare or cheers. Perhaps not even with a firm schedule in mind.

Is the show on May 15th going to be perfect? No. It will not be. I would love for it to be. I would KILL for it to be! I want to say that I am the only perfect thing in this theater in kayfabe, and even then, I always wrestle with showing my imperfections to others.

My girls will not be perfect on that day.

We might not even have a perfect full-gen debut on that day.

We might not even have prepared all the blog post backfill images on that day.

Even then,

that's okay.

Because at the end of the day, I want to be able to pat Lumi on the head and ask her, "Did you have fun out there?"

That's all I'm working towards right now.

Curtains Call

There are a thousand and one doubts, many more what-ifs, and even more questions about the future of our stage. Will Lumi make it to her debut on May 15th? Will I have to step in and cut a promo instead for the girls? Will there even be a theatre show on May 15th? (Cenk: OF COOOOOOURSEEEEEE)

Whatever, whoever, however, there is only one thing that is certain.

There WILL be a show on May 15th!

As my mentor says...

That's not a prediction, that's a spoiler!

Next Time, On 'Hell's Theatre': I talk about the failures and setbacks in setting the stage for AI girls. What happens when broken promises run up against broken tech? When ideals run into the dirtiest word in the entertainment industry... monetization? (urgh) Next up, the uncut tension between performance as an art and performance as a business!
